60th Annual Garrett County Agricultural Fair. As we creep to the midpoint of summer here at Deep Creek Lake, focus turns to the County Fair. My mind drifts to comfortable nights, fresh squeezed lemonade, Rotary fries with apple cider vinegar, demolition derby’s, tractor pulls and carnival rides that bring you back to childhood. Deep Creek is unique in that it is loved by tens of thousands, but is still small town living. You may literally see everyone that hails from this wonderful county as well as familiar out of town faces. Visitors can step into a 4H world of farm animals who are judged in categories such as best of show, the grand champion and then auctioned off. Imagine how lucky we are to have the opportunity to buy a grain fed steer that has zero steroids and chemicals pumped into them. Grain fed beef! You will see farm living/culture, as it really is important to our existence. Did I mention cow patty bingo?? That’s worth the price of admission in itself…
