Deep Creek Lake spring activities offer something for everyone. As we say good-bye to winter weather, it is a time to enjoy the outdoors, visit local businesses and explore the area. This quieter season is a favorite for locals and visitors alike.
I put together some of my favorite indoor and outdoor Deep Creek Lake spring activities. Be sure to check availability as opening dates may vary for some of the options listed.
Deep Creek Lake Spring Activities
–Golf typically begins in April (weather dependent). The four Garrett County courses are Lodestone, Fantasy Valley, Thousand Acres and the Golf Club at Oakland.
-Our eight state parks offer miles of hiking trails. Water levels can be high during the spring months making it a great time to check out Swallow Falls State Park. If you are looking for family friendly experiences, I put together a list of 5 easy trails.
-There are lots of cool little shops where you can buy unique items. Try Grant’s Mercantile in Grantsville or Bear Creek Traders in McHenry. Downtown Oakland is home to Flipside Sounds and a variety of antique shops.
-Calm waters at Deep Creek Lake and Herrington Manor Lake make spring a good time to paddle canoes or kayaks. The flatwater is family friendly too.
-Guided excursions are available as well. All Earth Eco Tours leads kayak tours along with nature walks.
-Spring is known to be one of the best times of year for fishing in local lakes and rivers. Check out my fishing guide for an overview of the best places to cast your line.
These are just a few of the options for springtime fun! Shake off your winter cabin fever, and spend some time exploring the many treasures that Garrett County has to offer..
