Staging tips can give you an edge over your competition. Almost everyone wants to sell their home as quickly as possible. Knowing where to focus your time and energy is key.
20 Staging tips
I have collected lots of staging tips over the years. Here are a few of my favorites that I hope you find helpful as you prepare to list your home.
1. clean FROM TOP TO BOTTOM
This step is key. From windows to floors, everything should be sparkling clean. This is a cost-effective way to show off the best features of your home. You don’t want potential buyers to be distracted by dirt. If you have a larger house, you may want to hire professionals. Taylor-Made’s housekeepers will do the dirty work for you.

Inside this Lake Front Home for Sale
Designed by architect Darrin Peterson, this home is an Adirondack-style lodge. Nearly every room has windows that highlight soaring lake views.
The highest quality materials were carefully chosen and constructed to blend form and function. Area craftsman created one-of-a-kind features that include Groll Ornamental Iron, Eastern White Cedar beams with flared roots in-tact and custom woodwork throughout.
Keeping the home’s history alive, the original 1941 cabin that was located on the lot was incorporated as part of the dining room. Wormy chestnut walls, exposed beams and the original fireplace give it an authentic Deep Creek Lake vibe.

Home winterization is on the minds of many of my sellers in the Deep Creek Lake are this time of year. I put together my top tips for home winterization to be sure you are ready when Old Man Winter knocks at the door.
prevent frozen pipes
Home winterization starts with protecting your pipes and water system. Avoid costly water damage that can occur from freezing pipes. A plumber will check everything and get it ready it for cold temperatures. Water should be drained from places where it is stored, like water heaters and hot tubs.
Once the water is drained, you won’t need to keep the heat turned up. Your pipes are safe and you will have lower utility costs.
check the gutters for leaks & debris
If water collects and freezes, your gutters could be damaged. The weight can pull them off of the house. Also, this could cause water to collect around your foundation. Most home owners know, that is never a good thing. Clean them out and seal up any leaks that you find. Continue reading Home Winterization Tips for Deep Creek Home Sales
Deep Creek Lake Real Estate market update for November 2017:
Your Deep Creek Lake real estate update gives you a snapshot of both Garrett County stats as well as the state of Maryland for comparison.
Residential home sales in Maryland rose by 2.5 percent over 2016. That indicates a steady fall market, according to the Maryland REALTORS. For the fifth month in a row, there were steady increases. The average and median home prices rose by 1.7% and 2.6% percent respectively, as compared to the same time in 2016.
“We are encouraged by the reversal from last month, as seen in the modest climb in home sales.” said Maryland REALTORS President, Boyd Campbell. “More importantly, there has been a 4.9 percent increase in homes under contract or pending units,” Campbell added. “This heralds more active home sales through the end of the year.”Continue reading Deep Creek Lake Real Estate Market Update for November 2017
Effective 1/20/17, the Maryland Mortgage Program is offering the Maryland Mortgage Grant Assist Program.
Grant Assist offers homebuyers closing cost assistance in the form of a 4% grant of the first loan amount.
Grant funds must be used exclusively for closing costs of the mortgage loan/home purchase.
Grant funds may not be used for down payment or combined with any down payment assistance products offered by CDA.
The grant must always equal 4%; no higher or lower percentages are allowed.
If the grant exceeds closing costs the excess will be applied as a principal curtailment.
Employers, builders, developers, non-profits or other contributors may offer additional assistance; however, the Partner Match Program is not available and the assistance will not be matched by the Department.
The Fact Sheet with all details will be available on the MMP website Fact Sheet Page at: http://mmp.maryland.gov/Lenders/Pages/Fact-Sheets.aspx
