Wisp Resort Opens Up for the 20/21 Season!

Wisp Resort opens up for the 20/21 season! Opening day is Friday, December 11th. There will be some changes in protocol this year due to COVID-19, but there is still plenty of fun to be had on the slopes!

Wisp Resort Opens Up December 11

Changes for 2020/2021

Due to the pandemic, Wisp Resort has put a variety of protocols in place. This is for the safety of guests and staff.

Here are few things to keep in mind if you are planning a visit to Wisp:

  • Season pass holders and Mission: Four’dable ticket holders can ski anytime without a reservation. All other skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing products (tickets, rentals, lessons) need to be purchased in advance at wispresort.com.
  • Face coverings must be worn in any indoor space.
  • Face coverings are also required outside if you cannot remain 6 feet apart from others (waiting in lines, loading on/off the lift, etc.). They must also be worn while tubing.
  • The lodge is limited to 50% capacity.
  • Be sure you purchase lift tickets or make reservations for tubing and lessons as soon as you can. Holiday time periods may sell out.

Of course all of this is subject to change as the season goes on. You can visit Wisp’s guidelines page for full details and the latest updates.

Wisp Resort Closes 2/25/17

Wisp Resort Closes 2/25/17. After another wonderful season of winter sports at Wisp Resort and in lieu of the recent warm up we have experienced over the last week or so, the ski slopes are now closed for the season. The fickle season has produced plenty of epic conditions but was starting to show signs of spring periodically through-out. My guess is that with kids’ sports/activities starting for our out-of-town friends and the conditions here stalling a hair, it’s not economically feasible to keep the slopes open. That being said, I can tell you that the winter season is not over yet so make plans to keep visiting this wonderful area and experience every ounce of every season. Thanks to all the staff at Wisp Resort for making the 2016/2017 season a memorable one!  Their Adventure Park will remain open on the weekends with ziplining, mountain coaster and lots more fun.  We hope to see you all soon!

Style Points

If you are sitting in your office dreaming of enjoying virgin corduroy ski slopes with your family and friends, I have one question for you…why aren’t you here?? After all, this is the time of the year when you can find the slopes with minimal traffic and fantastic conditions. I passed by Wisp Resort today on the way to work and saw two snowboarders on the first runs of Mainstreet throwing up huge rooster tails on the freshly groomed slope.  Passing the lodge area confirmed my thoughts on the “crowds”. They are non-existent during the week days and manageable on the weekend. Normally we see a huge peak of traffic during the Martin Luther King Holiday and then things taper off to a steady through February leading up to the Deep Creek Dunk on 2/25. This is also a great time to look at real estate in between winter sports and making merry. Call Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales to find a last minute vacation rental home or call Betsy Holcomb at 301-616-5022 to sit down and discuss the real estate options here at the lake!

Ten Things To Do In The Winter At Deep Creek Lake

  1. Snowmobile- Locals refer to it as “sledding” and it can be a very exciting way to see the lake and surrounding areas. If you are new to the sport, take some time to learn the basics on safety. Herrington Manor State Park has trails open to the public if you have sleds and if you purchase an Off Road Vehicle Permit.         Ten Things To Do In The Winter At Deep Creek Lake

  2. Snowshoe- Snowshoeing can be a blast with family and friends as well as a heck of a work out. Fork Run Recreational Area is a great spot to get started after a huge overnight snow. Ski/In Ski/Out Property-Wisp Resort. Ski in/ski out or slope side access have different personalities just as lakefront does. For example, you may be able to ski-in but not out or vice versa.  You might have to walk to the chairlift to get to the slopes but then you can ski back to your property. True ski-in/ski-out access means you’re actually skiing to and from your mountain property. Ski-in/ski-out can be located here at Wisp on the upper to mid portions of the mountain. Wisp Resort has condos at the base of the mountain near the lodge as well. The perks and conveniences of this style property is second to none. Imagine having a cocktail watching the game while rotating time on the slopes with the family. Boot warmers, ski lockers, washer/dryer with a mud room help keep everything convenient and easy. Come in from a ski sesh, strip and get into warm clothes and defrost by the fireplace with a hot cup of cocoa! When you get warmed and energized, hit the slopes again!

Here on Marsh Mountain surrounding Wisp Resort, there is a nice selection of different ski-in/ski-out neighborhoods. Boulder Ridge, Kendall Camp, Highline, Villages of Wisp, are all solid options that have different personalities.  Give Betsy Holcomb a call at 301-616-5022 on your next visit and explore the wonderful wintertime real estate options for both personal and investment opportunities.
