Deep Creek Lake Holiday Events in November

Festival of Trees Garrett County
November 23 & 24 at the Garrett County Fairgrounds
There is something for just about everyone at this Thanksgiving weekend event that benefits the Dove Center. Breakfast with Santa, activities for the kids, beautifully decorated trees and lots of craft vendors are just a few of the highlights.

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting
November 24, 7PM, Uno’s/Honi-Honi Bar
Check out the Christmas tree lighting on the lawn of UNO and the Honi. Santa will be there for photo too. Area favorite, Boathouse, will start playing at 8PM.

Holiday Open House
December 1, 10AM-Noon, Deep Creek Lake Discovery Center
Bring the kids to make picture frames and ornaments. They will also get to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus and snack on yummy holiday cookies.

Herrington Manor Holiday Open House
December 1, 1-3PM
Visit Herrington Manor State Park for cookies, crafts and s’mores over the roasting fire! Plus, Santa will be there!

Christmas in the Village
December 7, 4-8PM & December 8, Noon-8PM
Spruce Forest Artisan Village is a hidden gem in nearby Grantsville. The 33rd Annual Christmas in the Village includes candle luminaries that light the way around fire-warmed studios and historic museums. You can meet with resident artists and do some shopping for gifts. There are activities for kids and choral programs in the village church. Saturday can be especially busy, so consider parking at Grantsville Elementary School and riding the free shuttle.

While you are there, you can also check out the Little Crossings Holiday Market that features local and regional artisans, crafters, food vendors, and more! There will be a variety of live music, outdoor bonfires, and s’mores as well.

A Great Small Town Christmas
Downtown Oakland
Held December 7th & 8th “A Great Small Town Christmas”, this event kicks off with a tree lighting ceremony on Friday, December 7th at the community Christmas tree at 6PM. There will also be sleigh rides, carols, store specials and visits with Santa! Santa will be downtown from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm. This continues through Saturday.

Also a popular Oakland activity, the Oakland B&O Museum hosts the “Oakland Express” Saturday, December 8 and Saturday, December 15 from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Kids that are 4-9 can come to this free event in their PJs for a craft, cookies and treats from Santa. Call Michelle Ross at 301-334-2691 to make a reservation. Space is limited!

Fur Ball Casino
December 31, 6-11:30PM, Dutch’s at Silver Tree
Benefitting HART for Animals, enjoy snacks, a silent auction and your favorite casino games!
