Greetings from Deep Creek Lake!

Another Garrett County Fair in the books with beautiful weather to top it off.  This week was an amazing fair week with the family. Each night we enjoyed the different and exciting activities that the fair is famous for. We watched the mud bog races, the crash-up derby, attended the livestock auction, ate way too much fair food and of course took the boys on many rides. They are getting to the age where they want to experience everything that they are tall enough to do. Here are some stand out moments…

It’s a mere two weeks before Garrett County schools start back up. ***Group groan*** Hopefully you’ve had an amazing summer up until now and plan on continuing to visit until the snow starts falling. If you are looking for something to do that’s fun with the kids before the season ends that reflects true country living then try saddling up at the Circle K horse stables. We took Griffin out, 2 ½ years old, and couldn’t get him off the horses.  He loved it!

I want to encourage everyone to demo, rent or purchase a paddleboard if you haven’t already tried this sport. Early mornings at the lake can be mentally therapeutic. Set the alarm just one day and sacrifice a few hours of sleep to get on the lake when the sun’s about to rise, the winds are calm, the lake’s glassy and you are all alone. This is the case most mornings if you get on the lake around 6am. Take my advice and try it someday, as the reward is an amazing bonding experience with nature. You can almost get a feeling that you are the only one here at the lake.

Here is another photo taken from our deck in the early morning hours. There is nothing that starts a day on a more positive note.

The market stats for Garrett County for the month of July are encouraging.  Sales and Pending Sales are up and Inventory is down.  We are in the height of the market, which is reflective of this data.  Many buyers who have been looking at property over the last few months are choosing the property that best suits their family so they will not miss out on one more summer in the mountains!

There are a few events coming up in the next few weeks…Little Yough Summer Music Festival, Mountain Fresh Farmers Market, Country Fest & Auction, Alpine Lake Music Festival and the Art & Wine Festival on September 12th!  There’s always something to do at the lake.  Rental rates will be going down after this week; it’s a perfect time to book your getaway.  Have a wonderful week!
